Physics is a natural science that involves the study of matter and its motion through space-time, along with related concepts such as energy and force. More broadly, it is the general analysis of nature, conducted in order to understand how the universe behaves. Physics is closely related to the other natural sciences and, in a sense, encompasses them. Chemistry, for example, deals with the interaction of atoms to form molecules; much of modern geology is largely a study of the physics of the earth and is known as geophysics; and astronomy deals with the physics of the stars and outer space. Even living systems are made up of fundamental particles and, as studied in biophysics and biochemistry, they follow the same types of laws as the simpler particles traditionally studied by a physicist. The Department offers Masterís degree in Physics and in B.Sc., it is included as one of the optional subjects. Our teaching methodology is highly interactive and intensive which, includes seminars, presentations, group discussions, conferences, etc. The central and departmental Libraries are well-stocked with latest and relevant books of UG and PG curricula. Two well maintained, modern and advanced labs serve the needs of students. Annually, our college students occupy the top university positions with the distinctions. The alumni of the department are well placed in renowned organizations such as BARC, DRDO, ISRO, IITD, and Khetri Copper Limited etc. Students are also guided for national level competitive exams such as NET and GATE.

Students of physics often choose careers in research at CSIR laboratories, DST laboratories, ISRO laboratories, DRDO laboratories and teaching at universities, colleges, and schools. Besides research and teaching they are also having career opportunity in computer industry, electronics industry, metal and mine industry, telecommunication industry, and private research firms.
